Biannual Conference

The IAPFC holds conferences in the spring and fall of each year.  The conference free for members and is typically a two-day event that includes one day of professional development that is open to all and the second day is the business meeting for IAPFC membership only.   The professional development day is open to anyone who registers for the cost of $20.00 for non-members - this year is highly recommended for company officers.  

The next conference is the Fall Conference that will be October 1-2, 2024 at Terrace Hills Golf & Event Center in Altoona.

IAPFC - Professional Development Day - October 1, 2024

The Iowa Association of Professional Fire Chiefs is excited to announce the 2024 Fall Conference Professional Development Day Speaker and Program, Richard Ray: House Fires-Core Competencies. 

Richard Ray is a Battalion Chief for the City of Durham (NC) Fire Dept. He has garnered over 32 years of valuable experience in both volunteer and career departments. He has been fortunate enough to instruct on a national level, to contribute regularly to Fire Engineering, and is a member of the FDIC International Advisory Board as well as a tech panel member for the esteemed UL FSRI.

He instructs at the national level and writes for Fire Engineering Magazine. He has presented classes at FDIC, Firehouse World, SAFRE, SC Fire Rescue Conference, Virginia Fire Rescue Conference, Metro Atlanta Fire Conference to name a few.

He serves as a member of the FDIC International and the South Atlantic Fire Rescue Expo (SAFRE) conference educational advisory boards.

He is a member of the UL FSRI Residential Home Size Up, Search & Rescue and the Multi-Story Residential Tactics Technical Panel.

He is a third-generation volunteer firefighter with the Creedmoor Vol Fire Dept where he serves as a firefighter.

He was the Academy Coordinator for the Durham Tech Fire Academy.

He lives in Creedmoor with his Wife Paula, Daughter Jenna, and Son Evan.
